Email Security

Nowadays emails are very essential in any business process. In any organization, emails hold a lot of information that is considered confidential. For the mentioned reasons, compromising the email integrity and contents will lead to problems within the very same organization and with other organizations, negatively affecting the business to business process.

Email security can provide an adequate solution for the mentioned problem. Mainly, securing emails can be achieved by two means, Email Encryption and Email Digital Signature. The mentioned means are considered secure and immune against different attacks.

Softlock Email Security Solution is a straight forward solution, based on different technology standards. The solution provides the security by providing Email Encryption and Digital Signature. Email encryption can secure all confidential data transferred via emails, while Email Digital Signature can provide identity verification and non repudiation.

In order to reach the maximum security level, Softlock provides Softlock Smart Token Integration within the Email Security solution. Softlock Smart Token is a small USB device provides different cryptographic functionalities conforming to technology standards and compatible with different third party applications.

Using Softlock Email Security Solution will not require any technical background for the users. And, it is highly compatible with different and publicly available mail clients like: Microsoft Outloook and Mozilla Thunderbird. Following figure 2 illustrates a screen shot for Microsoft Outlook™ Email client with the option of Encrypting and signing the email message.

Encrypting and signing the email content will be established by the following steps:

1. Configure the email client with the Sender Certificate (only once).
2. Compose new mail message.
3. Plug in Sender Softlock Smart Token.
4. Click on Sign to sign the email content with the sender certificate.
5. Click on Encrypt to encrypt the email content based on the Recipient certificate.
6. Click send and login to the smart token (User PIN and Fingerprint).
