Is it possible to emulate Softlock.CD by emulation tools?
Softlock.CD detects and stops running from virtual CD drives (emulated CD drives). It successfully detects virtual drives created by Alcohol 120%, Nero image drive, Virtual CD, Clone CD image drive and Daemon tools.
How does Softlock identify original discs?
Softlock reads the physical parameters of the Glass Master then measure these parameters of the replicated CDs, and there is no way to make a copy with the same physical parameters.
Is it possible to copy Softlock.CD?
Until now, software copiers like Clone CD, Alcohol 120%, Blind Write, Nero, and VOB fails to make a working copy of CDs protected by Softlock.CD.
What programming languages Softlock.CD support?
Softlock can protect 32-bit applications, written in any programming language. Also It is not mandatory to have the source code of an application to apply protection on it.
What operating systems is supported by Softlock.CD?
Win98, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP
What is the ability to launch a Softlock.CD protected application from another computer over a network?
You must place the original CD into local computer CD drive; or the protected application will not run.
Is Softlock.CD compatible with Macromedia Flash applications?
Yes, Softlock.CD can be applied on applications programmed by Macromedia director; also you can encrypt the associated media files like DXR and CXT.
When the application starts the EXE checks for the original the CD and decrypts the needed files in run time.
Can I apply Softlock.CD into my application myself?
Of course, Softlock have two approaches for doing this:
Shell Mode: Softlock developed a genius Kit to implement the protection in a wizard manner.
SDK Mode: Softlock developed a very simple and useful library to implement the protection techniques programmatically into your code.
What is the compatibility between Softlock.CD and CD Drives ?
Softlock.CD is 95% compatible with the all existing CD/DVD drives and complies with the Yellow Book requirements. Users who have incompatible drives (5%) can alternatively use CD Activation system as described in the Softlock.CD manual.
What is the testing method applied for Softlock.CD?
Softlock prepares a test CD that simulates the performance of Softlock.CD. So you can test the protection performance before producing the glass master.
Are there any limitations on CD size to apply Softlock.CD?
Current version of Softlock.CD supports CDs up to 635 MB.
Should all the files of an application be protected?
Softlock can protect different type of files (EXEs, DLLs and Data Files); developer must choose the files based on their importance.
Is a protected Glass Master (Stamper) different from a standard Glass Master?
The protected Glass Master is the same as any Glass Master and can be replicated in any replication factory.
Is it possible to produce a Glass Master for Softlock.CD at any Stamper factory?
Yes, it's possible to produce Softlock.CD in any factory, also Softlock protection Kit provide all needed information for Glass Master manufacturing.
Is it possible to copy the contents of Softlock.CD?
Protected files of Softlock.CD can be copied to the hard disk drive, but the application will not run without the original disc inside the drive.
Also, Softlock provides an optional solution to prevent users from copying data files from the CD.
When Softlock.CD check for the original CD?
By default the protected applications by Softlock.CD check for the original CD at the starting of each run, but Softlock provides other two modes for more satisfaction and customization:
Check the CD one time only.
Check the CD one time per day.
Does the protection cause a delay when running the application?
Softlock.CD delay the application startup for 5 to 10 seconds based on the type of CD drive.
What are the criteria for choosing Softlock.CD from Softlock protection solutions family?
